A few years into my legal career, I started feeling it – that quiet but persistent itch for something more. More freedom. More flexibility. More of a life that actually felt like mine.
The idea of working from anywhere had always intrigued me, but back then – pre-pandemic, pre-everything – a “remote lawyer” was basically a mythical creature. Flexible legal roles were about as rare as a judge in flip flops, and traditional office culture wasn’t just the norm; it was pretty much the only option.
Then the world stopped.
And in that strange, unsettling pause, something unexpected happened: I found clarity. The pandemic handed us all something we never thought to ask for – time. Time to reflect, to breathe, and to ask ourselves some genuinely uncomfortable questions. Like: is this really the life I want?
For me, the answer was a firm, slightly terrifying: not quite.
The Decision That Changed Everything
I didn’t have a master plan. No spreadsheet. No five-year strategy. Just a deep, bone-level certainty that I wanted to align my legal career with a life that excited me.
So in 2022, I did something that raised a few eyebrows: I sold most of my worldly possessions and hit the road.
Bold? Absolutely. Spontaneous? Completely. Necessary? More than I can explain.
As clichéd as it sounds, the pandemic reminded me that life is genuinely, frustratingly short – and the world is enormous and extraordinary. I was done watching it from behind a desk. Time to swap the office shoes for flip flops 🩴
Dubai, Blogs & Building Something New
First stop: Dubai. One city, and I was immediately hooked.
Friends had been nagging me to start a blog for years (you know who you are), so once I’d settled in, I finally caved – andThe Glampacking Lawyer was born. This little corner of the internet became my space to share travel insights, legal life hacks, and snapshots from 50+ countries worth of adventures.
What started as a creative outlet quickly became something I genuinely couldn’t imagine life without. I was writing late into the night, not because I had to – but because I wanted to. That felt like a sign.
At the same time, I channelled that entrepreneurial energy into launching Online Law Hub – my own legal tech platform offering affordable, accessible legal solutions for real people. Building a business from scratch was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating. But suddenly I was reviewing contracts from Zanzibar, advising clients from the Maldives, and running a company that actually reflected my values.
Not bad for someone who used to think “remote work” was a perk, not a lifestyle.
Eventually, I sold Online Law Hub to Aatos – Finland’s leading personal legal platform, often described as the “Netflix of Legal Services.” And then, in a plot twist I genuinely didn’t see coming, I joined them full-time as their remote legal counsel.
26 Countries, 18 Months & One Very Good Decision
My time at Aatos was, without question, an adventure of a lifetime.
I travelled to 26 countries in 18 months (yes, really) fell completely in love with Finland, and spent my days working on one of the most advanced legal AI platforms in the world. It was everything I’d been chasing: law, tech, innovation, and the kind of freedom I’d only previously dreamed about 📲
I also genuinely fell for Helsinki in a way I did not expect. There is something about Scandinavian design, saunas, and relentless practicality that does something to your soul.
The Quiet Pull Towards Stillness (And My Mother’s Intervention)
By 2025, something shifted.
After years of living out of a suitcase, I started feeling a different kind of pull – not towards the next destination, but towards roots. Towards a home base. Towards somewhere I could unpack properly and actually use my entire wardrobe.
Dubai had been calling my name for a while. Loudly.
And then there was my mother, bless her, who, despite being endlessly supportive, did make it increasingly clear that while I might eventually visit every country on earth, I could theoretically still die a spinster having technically never “settled down.” She had a point. Kind of.
So I made the decision: I planted my flag in the UAE. Full time.
And honestly? It fits in a way I didn’t quite expect. The lifestyle is effortless, the energy is electric, the opportunities are constant, and the sun – oh, the sun – is basically a permanent personality trait of this place. If I had to pick one home for the rest of my life, this would be it. No hesitation 🌟
What’s Next?
Since landing in the desert properly, life has been nothing short of extraordinary. I’ve explored every emirate, advised C-suite leaders on multibillion-dollar transactions, and crossed paths with people who have genuinely changed the way I see the world.
Don’t get me wrong, the hustle here is real – I won’t pretend otherwise. But the lifestyle, the scale, the sheer ambition in the air makes it worth every long week.
My mantra for 2026? Travel Well.
Not cramming. Not chasing check-ins. But actually nourishing the soul – whether that’s a digital detox in nature, a luxury spa weekend, or yes, goat yoga (don’t knock it until you’ve tried it 🐐🧘♀️).
Because here’s what I’ve learned after all of it: you genuinely do not have to choose between a serious career and a life of freedom. You can build both. It takes courage, a decent WiFi connection, and a willingness to bet on yourself – but it is absolutely possible.
Take the first step. It might just change everything. ✨
Your Questions, Answered
Since launching The Glampacking Lawyer, my inbox has been wonderfully chaotic. Here are the questions that land most often – along with a few travel favourites I never get tired of answering.
💭 What inspired you to create The Glampacking Lawyer?
Honestly? A collision of passions I’d been ignoring for too long.
Law has always been my foundation – but writing, travel, and photography have been quietly competing for my attention since forever. The Glampacking Lawyer was my way of finally letting them win.
The blog was born from a genuine desire to show people – especially lawyers and professionals stuck in the traditional mould – that there is another way. You can build a serious, respected career and design a life that excites you. The two are not mutually exclusive, however much the legal profession would like you to believe otherwise.
Lately I’ve noticed a big shift in how people want to travel too. The sightseeing marathon – cramming seventeen cities into ten days – is losing its appeal. People want to feel something. To come home recharged, not depleted. I include myself in that entirely.
So whether you’re after a luxury retreat, a wellness escape, or just somewhere beautiful to open your laptop – I want this blog to help you find it.
🌍 Best Places You’ve Ever Visited?
Florida is my happy place, full stop. ☀️🇺🇸 I’ve been back more times than I can count and I still can’t fully explain it – the sunshine, the energy, the absolute obsession-worthy marine life. (I have a shark problem. It’s fine. I’m fine.)
But if we’re talking life-changing? The Galápagos Islands. Nothing prepares you for it. The landscapes feel like another planet, the wildlife has absolutely no fear of humans, and the whole experience leaves you with this profound, slightly overwhelming sense of just how extraordinary the natural world is. Go. Seriously.
🏩 Favourite Hotel in the World?
Impossible question. And yet – two places have genuinely ruined me for anywhere average:
1. Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas
2. SAii Lagoon Maldives (Curio Collection by Hilton)
Both deliver the kind of luxury that doesn’t feel performative – stunning ocean settings, world-class spas, exceptional food, and that rare feeling of not wanting to leave. Ever. If anywhere dethrones them, I’ll update this list immediately. Until then, the bar has been set.
Want more? Explore the blog, drop me a message, or follow along on Instagram – the adventure is very much ongoing.🌍
